Abstract: | This work describes the development of a thermochemical model based on mass balance and thermal control for blast furnace. With this model can calculate operational indices of the blast furnace. These indices show the thermal level deviations of the blast furnace and allow rapid operator action, with consequent stability gain. The motivation for this work is due to the fact that there is a deficiency of models able to anticipate the operator action in the fuel consumption of the blast furnace in the Brazilian steel industry. It concluded that the thermo-chemical model is applicable to the blast furnace control, with the top gas analysis as the main sensor of the model, therefore it is required high accuracy in the analysis of the top gas (CO, CO2 and H2). It was applied the thermo-chemical model for industrial blast furnace data. Various relationships between operating parameters and fuel consumption were obtained. The simulation results showed that the developed control model is an important tool for stable operation of the hot metal production process in blast furnace. Using the model was possible to show that the operator can anticipate their actions in the targeted carbon and avoid large variations in the thermal level of the blast furnace, providing greater operational safety (reduced risk of cooling). That is, the thermal control ceased to be corrective and became preventive. |
