Abstract: This work investigates the potential use of low-cost virtual reality (VR) devices in architectural education to improve spatial perception of undergraduate architecture students. The experiment involved a gradual approach into the design process, starting with an intervention on a physical space, its bidimensional representation, 3d modelling and immersion in VR. After the immersion, students answered a questionnaire with open and closed-questions about their experience, and their evaluation of the use of VR in the designing. The findings point to the use of VR as a means to explore, perceive and reflect on decisions, allowing students a better understanding of designing.
